Profile
Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair
Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair has a rich history of theatre and drama productions. Aisteoirí Ghaoth Dobhair, founded in 1931, produced their first play “In Aimsir an Mháirtínigh”, an original play by Eoghan Mac Giolla Bhríde, founder, in Derrybeg Hall in 1932.
They gained critical acclaim over the years but due to economic circumstances and lack of funding, the theatre fell into disrepair and subsequently closed in 2007.
The Theatre re-opened on the 24TH March 2017. Since the re-opening, the theatre is back at the heart of community life again offering a venue for entertainment, conventions, social and cultural events, giving audiences the opportunity to enjoy the best local, national and international arts and events in the newly refurbished, wheelchair accessible 290 seater auditorium.
