Ben Holmes is an artist based in Carndonagh in rural Inishowen in Co. Donegal. His paintings are inspired by the life, land and sea of his surroundings.

Working mostly in oils, Ben’s paintings embrace the land and sea and life of his surroundings, taking on the wild Atlantic coastline and the rural setting within. His work often combines abstract elements within detailed figurative scenes. Ben says: “Every piece is a journey and an exploration. I am humbled by the very nature of painting, that an arrangement of colours on a flat surface has the potential to become something much more.”
