L1001, Knockamany, Inishowen Municipal District, Malin, inishowen, Ireland
The Knockamanny Bens viewpoint can be found on the hill high above Five Finger Strand. To reach it follow the Inishowen 100 road from the beach and it will pass the car park.
The views from here are amazing stretching from some of the highest sand dunes in Europe at Five Finger Strand and out over Trawbreaga Bay a Wildlife Sanctuary and Special Protected Area, due to the internationally important number of overwintering Barnacle Geese and a rare Cough Roost.
And behind there you can see Slieve Snaght, the highest mountain in Inishowen, and the Urris Hills towering upwards into the sky.
If you would like to do something completely different then the viewpoint is the starting point for the very popular Wild Alpaca Way, where you can go on a guided walk in the hills accompanied by alpacas. This activity is extremely popular especially with families with young children so please book your trip in advance.
The wreck of the “Twilight” which sank in 1889 en-route from Newfoundland to Derry can be seen here. to view a youtube video of the wreck click here.
