Moville coastal walk
Moville coastal walk starts from the shorefront in the town of Moville beside car park beside the play park and Inish Adventures, the outdoor adventure company.
It is an easy walk, which has a path going all the way to the end, that follows the coastline for 2.2 km. At the start, it goes along the rocky shoreline and then gives way to sandy coves.
Near the start of the walk, you will come across St Columb’s Well, where it is said that when St Columba was leaving Derry to go to Scotland he came ashore here and the spring came out of the rocks and runs clear summer and winter.
There are plenty of seats along the path to take a break and admire the stunning views across Lough Foyle.
The little coves are excellent for the kids to play in with lots of flat stones to teach them how to skim stones over the waters of the Lough.
There is another car park at the far end and access to even more stunning sandy beaches can be found by going further on.
There is only a partial track here and sometimes you have to continue over the beaches but you can walk on for approximately another 1 km and even on to Greencastle, though that means going partially along the main road.
