Profile
Swan Park
Swan Park is a beautifully scenic park in Buncrana, which follows the Crana river up through the town. It is a favourite spot for many people.
It is widely used by locals and visitors alike for walking dogs, picnics playing and gentle walks with the kids and quite often you will see kayakers using the park to access the waters of the river. As you stroll through the park you may see some little fairy houses.
Crana Fest is a 2-day event/festival for all disciplines of kayaking; sea, lough and river from Grade 2 to Grade 4 which takes place on the river near the end of October.
At this festival, the general public can participate in short rafting trips down the river. Booking is essential as time slots are limited and are usually snapped up pretty quickly.
The park was severely damaged in 2017 by storm Ophelia and is still only partially open to the public as the repairs to the park are continuing. Hopefully, the park will be back to its past glory and be fully open. €1.7 million has been allocated by the central Government to help restore the park
Besides the park, you will find Buncrana Castle and O’Doherty’s Keep as well as the Buncrana Coastal walk.
