Profile
An Cloigtheach (The Bell Tower)
St Colmcille founded a monastery on Tory Island in the 6th Century which dominated life on the island for hundreds of years.
The Tower is all that remains after the monastery was plundered and destroyed in 1595 by English Troops in a war of suppression against local chieftains.
