Burnfoot is a small village that has one of the peninsula’s largest employers, E&I Engineering. There are several shops, one bar, two cafes and two takeaways. Its population in 2016 was 450.
The village is close to several great attractions:-
Wild Ireland the brand new attraction opened in Oct 2019 and is a wildlife sanctuary that is open to the public. It specialises in animal species that were once native to Ireland.
Grianán of Aileach is only a short distance away and can be seen from the village imposing itself on top of the hill.
Inch Wildlife Reserve and Walk are also just a short distance away and will soon be connected with the village by North West Greenway.
Work is due to begin shortly on the North West Greenway route and it will pass through Burnfoot and will connect the village with a safe walking and cycling route between Derry, Buncrana and Newtoncunningham.
