Raphoe
The historic town of Raphoe is one of the six heritage towns in Donegal and its name in Irish is Ráth Bhoth which means ‘Ringfort of the Huts’. Colmcille founded a monastic settlement in the area in 550 AD
In the town you will find a ruined Castle and a Cathedral and a short drive away you will find the Beltany Stone Circle, one of the finest examples of a stone circle in Ireland, which dates back to around 2100-700 BC.
