Morton God Dolmen is the largest portal tomb (dolmen) in Inishowen. The capstone probably weighs around 30 tons. It was originally referred to as a Druid’s alter and it was
thought that it was used for sacrifices or some other Druid rituals.
But these monuments actually date from far earlier, around about 5000 years ago, marked burial places and probably even predating the times of the Druids, who existed about 2000 years ago.
At the base of the tomb, there appear to be traces of a cairn.
