Profile
The Tau Cross
The t-shaped cross is the earliest Christian Relic on the island and dates from the 12th Century, it is 1.9 metres high and has a breadth of 1.1 metres.
The Tau Cross is one of only two T-shaped crosses in Ireland with the other one being in Kilnaboy, Co. Clare and gets its name as it is shaped like the Greek letter tau.
Tory Fisherman traditionally prays before the cross before setting out to sea.
