Profile
Ned’s Point Fort
The Fort was built in the Napoleonic era and is one of a number of batteries found around the area, which were built to protect the northern coast of Ireland. The fort has great views over a large part of Lough Swilly and can be found on the Buncrana Shore Walk.
The fort is not currently open to the public, though there have been attempts in the past to develop the fort into a tourist attraction. We will just have to see if any such welcome developments for the area are taken any further forward.
